Neil was brought up in Prestonpans, Scotland and joined the Royal Marines in 1985. On gaining his green beret, he was posted to 45 Commando Group where he served in Northern Ireland, Canada and Norway.
Neil left the Marines in 1990 and joined the police, where he is now a sergeant with thirteen years firearms experience.
Neil is a keen Triathlete, cyclist and runner. He has competed in half-ironman distance events, marathons and an ultra-ironman (covering 120 miles over six days). He is also a keen mountaineer and hill-walker and has been on expedition in Nepal, Kenya and Alaska.
Neil lost his mother to cancer at the age of eleven and, along with John and Roddy, he has been involved in fundraising events that have raised around £20,000.00 for cancer research.
